Always in Prayer

Starter

1.      When did prayer make a difference to your uni work or work in school?

2.      When is it easier or harder to remember to pray during daily life?

Deeper

3.      Why is praying about our work a necessity and not just a bonus part of being a Christian?

These verses (and others) might help to get you thinking – ask someone to read them out.

‘Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.’ James 1:17

‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.’ Philippians 4:6

‘I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber’ Psalm 121:1-3

4.      Come up with 5-10 tips as a team that could help you to pray while you’re working.

Reflect

5.      Share a work situation each (in pairs or as a whole group) where you want God to make a change. It could be general help from him you need or a specific answer to prayer.

Pray about it and commit to keep praying for each other.

Never Once, Matt Redman

Taking it Further

We can read a lot about prayer and there good resources out there such as LICC's prayer journeys (search it on Google) or the Prayermate app.

More often than not, though, we just need to pray. Perhaps ask somoeone to keep you accountable and to check in every day for a few weeks to see if you're praying. You could even be a colleague (Christian or not!).
